To add a data directory, you must first select Data Types from the Special menu and Change Data Directory Information from the Data Types submenu. The Change Data Type Parameters dialog box will appear. Click on the data type on list on the left and click the Add Directory button. The Add New Data Directory dialog box appears.
To add a directory, you first must change into the directory that has the data files in it. (Investigator cannot add a data directory unless there are data files in it.)
The current directory is specified towards the top of the dialog box. To specify a different directory, first make sure the correct hard drive is selected. If not, click on the proper hard drive in the Drives: box on the left and click the Change Drive Button. (You can also double-click on the desired drive.)
Next make sure the proper directory is selected by changing into it. Again, the current directory is shown towards the top of the dialog box. You can change into different directories by clicking on the directory you wish to change into and then clicking the Change Directory button. (You can also double-click on the directory.)
Once you’ve changed into the directory you wish, make sure the status box on the right says that it has data files. Click OK to return to the Change Data Directory Information dialog box.
Note: The directory “..” refers to the directory directly above the current directory.
